Biography
Professor Michelle Hermiston graduated from the Medical Scientist Training Program (MSTP, combined MD/PhD) at Washington University and competed Pediatric Residency followed by a Pediatric Hematology and Oncology Fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). At UCSF, her major accomplishments include building and leading the UCSF Pediatric Immunotherapy (CAR’T) Cell Program, designing and leading the Core Inquiry Curriculum for the School of Medicine, serving as the Associate Director of the Global Cancer Program where she developed the only Ministry of Health-approved CK2 in Pediatric Hematology-Oncology in Vietnam with the University of Medicine and Pharmacy. An internationally, her roles have included serving as Vice Chair of Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma Committee NHL) and Chair of the NHL Biology Committee in the Children’s Oncology Group, chair of the LCH steering committee and the Histiocyte Society, serving as co-founding members of the North American Consortium for Histiocytosis and the Pediatric Real World CAR T Cell Consortium026. In November 2025, she moved to Hanoi, Vietnam, to become the first Vice Dean of Health Research at VinUniversity. She was named Dean of the College of Health Sciences in September 2025. Her goal is to build a world-class health research and education program to improve health and wellness in Vietnam and beyond, serving as a model for research infrastructure in other emerging countries.
