Biography
Dr. Julius Xavier Scott is a senior paediatric hemato-oncologist with over 22 years of experience in this field. He is one of the very few “senior most” Pediatric hemato oncologist in Tamil Nadu and teacher of many of the current Pediatric hemato oncologists.
He finished his pediatric residency in Christian Medical College, Vellore with gold medal both in DCH and MD program and completed his fellowship in Paediatric Hemato-Oncology in Australia in 2009. He has won best poster award for the study “Interleukins in febrile neutropenia” in ANZCHOG 2007 conference in Sydney.
His work spans in all areas of pediatric hemato oncology including hematology, oncology immunodeficiencies, and palliative care. His special interest is treating retinoblastoma and solid tumors like neuroblastoma and hepatoblastoma. His work with Sanakara Netharalaya in treating retinoblastoma and Collaborative works with Prof Mohammed Rela treating hepatoblastoma is tremendous.
He has played a pivotal role in establishing pediatric oncology departments two major institutions before he joined Rela Institute. He is also the Medical Director of Golden Butterflies, a pediatric palliative care NGO, and a prolific author with eight books and 184 publications to his credit. He is key person behind the beginning of DM pediatric oncology course in sri Ramachandra university.
He has Published 8 books (“Scott’s Pedia-Tricks”- Text book of Pedia-Tricks, one of the top seller in Amazon), Book “Kurukshetram 2.0” for cancer children’s families available in four languages Tamil, English, Hindi & Telugu, Book “The White Coat” – Career guidance book for MBBS aspirants has chapters explaining everything about MBBS field, written by authors ranging in age from 18 to 90 years.
He has been recognised with the Best Doctor Award (Rotary Club of Chennai Towers, 2013), the International Healthcare Award (2016), and the Mayan Award presented by the Hon. Governor of Puducherry, Dr. Kiran Bedi and also awarded “Dr.Mehta’s community impact award” in recognition of my contributions to child health in June 2025 in the Paediatric excellence award meeting. He was awarded FRCPCH from Royal college of London, highest qualification for paediatricians for his academic achievement in may 2026.
