Dr Tanveer Ahmed Shaikh

I am a paediatric haematologist-oncologist and Assistant Professor at SDM Medical College and University, Dharwad. I trained at Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai, before joining Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children (GOSH), London, first as a Senior Clinical Fellow and then as an ECMC Drug Development Officer and Sub-Investigator.

At GOSH, my work sat at the sharp end of precision oncology—early-phase and translational trials of CAR-T therapies for paediatric solid and CNS tumours, alongside molecularly targeted agents for relapsed and refractory disease. I chaired the ECMC Regional Relapse Panel spanning Cambridge, Oxford, Southampton, and London. My work has been recognised internationally, including the Best Study Idea award at JING 2025 (Manchester) for a proposed RNA-based therapy targeting diffuse midline glioma.

Having contributed to the paediatric oncology unit at MPMMCC, Varanasi, I have returned to North Karnataka to establish dedicated clinical trials and specialist cancer care closer to the families who need it. As a childhood cancer survivor myself, I care as much about how children live after treatment as whether they survive it—a conviction that shapes my contribution to PICK4Kids and its mission to bring precision diagnostics and targeted therapies within reach of every child with cancer in India.
